Who am I?

All of these things?
Most of these things?
Some of these things?
None of these things?

Who am I?

Will the answer vary depending on who you ask?
Will the answer vary depending on what I think?
Will the answer vary depending on what I feel?

There is only One whose answer matters because His answer is fact not opinion.
It is based on reality, not feeling.
It is based on Truth, not lies.
Yet it is lifelong pursuit and battle to believe what He says is Truth about me.

The enemy whispers (and sometimes shouts) to me who he says I am – sometimes directly, but more often through others, or the world, or circumstances, or my own thoughts.

And so continues the battle…

Who am I?

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:12-13 ESV

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Romans 8:14-17 ESV

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
I John 3:1-2 ESV

Who am I?

I am who He says I am, and each moment of each day He gives me the opportunity to believe or not believe that.

Papa, help me to believe that I am who You say I am.

Who You Say I Am
Hillsong Worship
Songwriters: Ben Fielding / Reuben Morgan

Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me?
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me

Free at last, He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am

I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am

That’s who I am.
