Thought Shrapnel Indeed

The title of this blog is Thought Shrapnel. It’s time for a brain dump. There is no rhyme or reason to these thoughts. Some are my random thoughts. Some are from our senior pastor, Happy Leman, who spoke at our Discover class last Thursday. Some are from Illinois women’s basketball coach, Matt Bollant, who spoke at our Men’s breakfast this morning. Some are song lyrics. Some are book quotes. So duck and cover!!! 🙂

You need to learn to laugh at yourself.

The Church is the main vehicle God wants to use to communicate His message to the world.

God: I am not disappointed with you because you commit sins. The people whom I am disappointed with are those people who think they’ve got it altogether, but really don’t; those who are arrogant and prideful who think they don’t need Me. Remember the Pharisees?

The Kingdom of God is God’s rule and reign.

“Of course He’s not safe… but He’s good.” (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe)

“Let me in the sound. Let me in the sound. Let me in the sound sound. Let me in the sound.”

Guard your heart for it is the well-spring of life.

Vineyard Mission = A people who continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by The Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (Acts 20:24)

Find Jesus, find friends, find what you’re called to do.

How did Joseph store the grain in Egypt for the seven years before the drought?

Abba. Daddy. Poppa. Not Mr. God

Take time to find out what God is asking you to do.

Lead first by your work ethic and example.

Relationships are 100-100, not 50-50.

“Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango”

But he [Jesus] would withdraw to desolate places and pray. (Luke 5:16 ESV)

You reap what you sow. God is merciful. Yet, you shouldn’t expect God to bail you out all of the time. He may just let you face the consequences of your actions.

If nothing changes, then nothing changes.

“I protest. I am NOT a Merry Man.”

I really do not like the New York Yankees or the Miami Heat.

“Digging into the Word of God is easily the number one factor that differentiates men who have tapped into God’s power.” Man Alive by Patrick Morely
